The Story
Vagabond is a psychological thriller, about Vincent, a paranoid young man desperate to make his parents proud by studying in the US. But while traveling, he is told his passport comes from a country that doesn’t exist.

Vincent is a French international student coming to the US for his studies. As his plane lands, he panics, fearing to have lost his passport. This anxiety stays with him as he goes to be processed through border control.
However, the border control officer can’t find any country that matches his passport type. As far as they know, he comes from nowhere.
As he is taken away for interrogation, he is put up against the cold and dehumanizing system that won’t listen to him. He therefore has to learn to overcome his anxiety, and stand up for himself in this place where no one else will.
Director's Statement
"This is my senior thesis film at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
It was inspired by an urban legend (the man from Taured), as well as my own experience as an international student.

I wanted to use liminal spaces (places of transition, like airports) as its settings because of the inherent lack of identity or cultural belonging. This is reinforced by a timelessness in the costumes and props.
Furthermore, this film focuses on the main character's perspective by finding ways to isolate Vincent's point of view using visual and sonic cues.
With this film, I'm hoping to make a statement about the strict and senseless authority that rules over nations' borders and the resulting systematic dehumanization of individuals all around the globe."

Julia Moran
Producer
Since 2012, Julia has been creating stories in various media, including stop-motion animation, narrative, and documentary. When coming to
SCAD she concentrated her skills into producing content that speaks of universal themes to authentically generate a wider audience.
Vagabond was the film that provided the right challenge and scope she needed to expand her talents as a producer. This is the project that will be the roots of her future filmmaking at SCAD and professionally.
Will Travis
DP
Will is an outdoorsy guy. He loves filming outside and going on cool adventures while doing it. He would love to work for companies such as National Geographic, North face, Patagonia, etc. This is his biggest project yet at SCAD.
Over the past few months, he has worked with the director to develop the visual identity of the film. His natural flair of capturing environments in an organic way has elevated the film in the way it used its locations. It has allowed to make the locations their own character in the film.
